Italia Arte, Museo MIIT and Associazione culturale Galleria Folco curate and organize, in collaboration with the Associazione Be-Art di Francesco Barillà, the City of Scilla and the Scilla Jazz Festival, the international exhibition “VIAGGI. INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION BETWEEN MYTH, NATURE, BEAUTY.
The exhibition is therefore an important and institutional event for the enhancement of contemporary art in a historical, artistic, archaeological, cultural and social context as important as the Mediterranean Basin. As a symbolic place of this context, for the 2019 edition, Calabria and the Ruffo di Scilla Castle were chosen, WHICH PARTS OF THE PLACES OF THE HEART FAI Fund for the Italian Environment and natural outlet on the sea of many other Italian regions that have always dialogued with it from a cultural, social, historical point of view, but also, at any time and still today, place of contact, transit and departure to more or less distant lands of the Mediterranean.
The exhibition enriches the already extraordinary review of Jazz music in the city, the Scilla Jazz Festival, IDEATED AND CURATED BY FRENCH BARILLA’ AND BE ART CULTURAL ASSOCIATION with the collaboration of major public and private bodies and quickly became an international event of absolute importance, thanks to the participation of prestigious musicians from Italy and abroad.
THE INTERNATIONAL VOCATION OF THE PROJECT
Italia Arte, Museo MIIT and Associazione Culturale Galleria Folco have been working together for almost thirty years to promote modern and contemporary Italian and international art, with a view to projects involving institutional exhibition spaces, such as museums and foundations, contemporary art centres, universities, libraries, schools, academies, public and private galleries, Italian cultural institutes around the world, Italian and foreign embassies and consulates. The Brazilian artist Izabel Alcolea exhibits her works between chromatic abstraction and the synthesis of forms and volumes, the Argentinean Daniel Barroso, whose collages and mixed techniques on paper are presented, the sculptor Carlo Bellomonte with his synthetic language who works with iron and recycled material, Federica Bertino with her work ‘Per te’ and her delicate and symbolic watercolours, Luciano Bonetti with his strong theme of ecology and immigration, Milena Buti with her personal and material works, Anna Canale with her abstract, ironic and playful visions of her ‘Ugly Animals’, Marinella Carubelli with her expressionist classicism, Liliana Cavigioli, synthetic and chromatic in her essential paintings that tell of travels and emotions, Renata Cuomo presenting delicate figurative watercolours and a highly introspective informal work, Curci with the Fluid Art technique, the photographer of reflections and water Enza De Paolis, the refined Giovanni Di Ceglie with her paintings on antique linen, the well-known photographer Carlo Di Giacomo who elaborates post-industrial and urban languages, Aster’ with its informal and abstract painting, the colourist Fonachi, Giuliana Maddalena Fusari who combines fiber art and mixed techniques on paper and fabric, Maria Pia Giacomini with her figurative classicism, Luca Givan, creator of the material Virtualism who presents a sculpture-installation ‘manipulable’ by the public according to the dictates of its current, the Japanese and inlayer on wood Koichi Hasegawa, Fabiana Macaluso, a young painter who deals with issues such as immigration and diversity of peoples, Gabriella Martino, award-winning Italian artist, Laurita Mazapan photographer and performer Spanish Madrid, the Swiss Manuella Muerner Marioni, photographer and performer Nuuco, Carmela Oggianu ‘Caroggi’ which presents two works between figurative and impressionism, Barbara Pecorari with the ‘Sardines’ metaphor of life and ecological change, Mariella Pinto and Marenza Pinto, with their deep pictorial intensity and classical symbolism which offer visitors two paintings dedicated to their land, Calabria and to a romantic vision of beauty and harmony, the Russian Jessica Gabbai Poliakoff, of which two small geometric-abstract canvases are exhibited, Maria Elena Ritorto, present with four works between figuration and abstraction, romanticism and expressive freedom, Elena Rizzardi with her material painting and rich in assemblages, Adriano Sambri who presents a selection of different paintings taken from great cubist or fantasy masterpieces, the materials researcher Antonio Saporito and his steel and enamel panels, the Polish photographer Artur Skorupski, very elegant in her search for compositions and surreal atmospheres, Eleonora Tranfo, who exhibits a precious watercolour on wood, a difficult and rare technique, and Griscia Tufano, present with three works with a strong chromatic and symbolic impact.
